The £75m signing of Romelu Lukaku has turned a previously slow summer around for the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern, who had been growing frustrated at the lack of major activity.
While the Belgian’s arrival has lifted spirits amongst our resident Red Devils, recent reports suggesting old foes Real Madrid were lining up another bid for star stopper David De Gea this summer. The Spaniard has long been touted as a target for the Champions League winners and the thought of losing him has concerned the United fans propping up our bar.
Still, reports from the Daily Mirror have at least made some of them feel a tad better about the whole situation. They claim the Old Trafford giants are ready to ask for pass-master Toni Kroos as a part of any deal to take De Gea away from the North West.
Indeed, pairing the former Bayern Munich man up with Paul Pogba would be quite the sight.
The German is widely regarded – by our punters at least – as one of the best midfielders in the world and has previously been linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams. A dream signing for many of our drinkers, the World Cup winner would certainly be a big-name addition for Jose Mourinho.
A bittersweet rumour, though one that’s interested our local United fans.
