As accustomed as the seasoned drinkers in the Transfer Tavern are to the eccentricities of the rumour mill, even the most veteran of Manchester United supporting punters were shocked to see them linked with one star in particular yesterday.
It was reported over in Italy that the Red Devils were ready to battle Serie A giants Lazio in a bid to prize Argentine defender Ramiro Funes Mori from Everton this summer.
By no means a bad defender, it’s just the 25-year old has been overshadowed (for reasons that are both good and bad) by teammate John Stones for much of the campaign.
However, as reported by the Daily Mirror, the player’s agent has since quelled any suggestions his client could about to leave Merseyside on the cheap and suggested they will be looking more at leas €30m (around £23m.)
“Lazio are a great club, but Everton do not want to sell and evaluate him at more than 30 million euros,” revealed Jorge Cyterszpiler.
“But football is strange and anything can happen. He is among the best left-sided centre-backs in the world.”
Would Funes Mori really be worth anywhere what Everton reportedly value him at?
