Manchester United could look to Zinedine Zidane to replace Jose Mourinho in the Old Trafford dugout.
Mourinho has been under immense pressure following a poor start to the Premier League campaign. Things looked to be improving following a three-game win streak, but defeat against West Ham meant the Portuguese has guided the club to their worst start since the 1989/90 season. His time as manager could be running out.
Reports suggest that Zidane is the leading candidate to take the reins at the club. The Frenchman is without a club after leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season following three consecutive Champions League wins. He is viewed as the perfect replacement to help turn their fortunes around.
Should Zidane move to the Premier League, he should make an outrageous attempt to sign Real Madrid defender – Sergio Ramos. Valued at £40.5m by Transfermarkt, the Spaniard has been a mainstay in the Real Madrid side since joining from Sevilla back in 2005. The 32-year-old has made over 570 appearances during his trophy-laden spell with the Galacticos and could be tempted to try a new challenge with his former manager in England.
Ramos is undoubtedly one of the best centre-backs in world football, and his wealth of experience would help add some much-needed stability to the United back four. United wanted a new defender in the summer, and the World Cup winner could be the perfect addition to their squad.
Madrid wouldn’t want to lose their iconic defender but could definitely be tempted into a sale. The Spanish giants decided to sell Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer and could be willing to allow Ramos’ departure and search for a younger replacement.
If Zidane is appointed, he must try to bring Ramos to Old Trafford.
