Real Madrid open to deal but Man United surprisingly not keen – report

Any time the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern read reports linking their beloved Red Devils with a move for Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, it’s fair to say they get pretty excited.

Indeed, with Jose Mourinho recently spotted joking with the Welshman prior to a friendly win over in America between the two teams, there have been suggestions United could make a move for the 28-year-old.

With Los Blancos strongly touted with a world record move for Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe, there have been rumours that the former Tottenham Hotspur man could be made available for a transfer.

Well, reports from the Daily Record suggest he IS for sale, though United reportedly WON’T be signing him.

Real are said to be concerned over his fitness, with the forward missing 29 games last season with three separate injuries and would apparently be open to the idea of selling him. However, the Red Devils aren’t thought to be likely to make a move.

That’s because the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ is reportedly of the belief that the 28-year-old is happy with life in the Spanish capital AND United are believed not to want to get involved with the hyperinflated transfer market, as much as Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

Kind of rich, really, when you think of the money spent on Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku of late…

Landlord’s Verdict

United can throw as much money in the world at Bale, though why would he leave Real Madrid? The biggest club in the world, even the intense competition for places at the Santiago Bernabeu would surely not put him off staying.

While he really would be a blockbuster signing, perhaps a deal is just too difficult to do, considering the money he’s paid by Los Blancos, as well as the potential fee.

It’s unlikely Real will want to lose money on his signing – having bought him for £86m – so he’d probably cost even more than Pogba!
