Though the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern were growing rather frustrated earlier this summer, the 4-0 win over West Ham United certainly has eased fears.
Jose Mourinho’s search for a new winger may have proved fruitless so far, though few would doubt the options available to the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ in attacking areas as it stands.
Ivan Perisic has been touted as a potential target and would be welcomed by our punters, though not signing him wouldn’t be the end of the world. However, a report from Calciomercato indicates they may not have to deal with making do without him.
United haven’t been tempted to bid that much so far, with the fee equating to around £50.4m, though a move could still reportedly go ahead should they feel so inclined.
Though the former Wolfsburg man is undoubtedly a good player, our United-mad punters don’t believe signing him is the most pressing concern.
Perisic would strengthen United, there’s no doubt about that. However, paying such a big fee for him may not be the wisest move, considering the options they have available right now.
Perhaps waiting until next summer and seeing how the likes of Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard develop would be better.
