Report reveals Man United transfer news fans won’t want to hear

Last summer, the talk amongst our punters here in the Transfer Tavern largely centred around the Paul Pogba saga.

Well, it looks as if Manchester United will AGAIN be involved in a high-profile pursuit of a French international, this time by the name of Antoine Griezmann.

With the Atletico Madrid star recently rating his chances of playing for the Red Devils next season as 6/10, the punters propping up the bar were sent right into dreamland.

However, recent reports from ESPN have dampened expectations somewhat. They claim the La Liga side could impose quite the financial obstacle on any deal to bring the forward to England.

Los Rojiblancos are believed to want a downpayment of at least £50m right away should he depart, not a process United usually do with transfer targets.

Indeed, ‘senior figures’ at Old Trafford are not thought to want to stray from their current structure, one that usually sees them pay in instalments.

Though they are thought to be long-term admirers of the 26-year-old, the report suggests this could be a major obstacle.

As you can imagine, the resident Red Devils aren’t best pleased.
