Life amongst the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern has been a joy of late, having watched their side reclaim the Premier League title in recent weeks.
After such a dismal campaign last year, the Blues in the bar are delighted to see Stamford Bridge a happy once again, following the mess left by Jose Mourinho.
Still, it doesn’t seem as if everyone has sour memories of the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’. Speaking as a guest on ESPN Brasil’s ‘Bate Bola’ show recently, Blues star Willian has praised his former boss.
Indeed, what makes the Brazilian’s comments oh so interesting is the fact his waxing poetic over the Portuguese comes amid strong links with a move to Manchester United.
Mourinho has previously been reported to have targeted the 28-year-old as part of another summer spree at Old Trafford and, while Willian does go on to claim he’s happy in SW6, clearly has a fond place in the attacker’s heart.
”We always have a special affection for somebody, and you feel that, that it is reciprocal of him. And we’re not even working together anymore, but we’ve become friends. And it’s Mourinho”, he said.
“The coach who has helped me since my arrival at Chelsea.”
”That backed me, that put me to play, that relied on my potential, that relied on my work. So no doubt I have affection for all, but Mourinho was a guy that I have a special affection and helped me a lot.”
“He is a manager who talks to players, who is tactically very smart, knows how to lead the group well. So I only have good things to say about him, this whole time I worked with him at Chelsea was very good. So he is a very good manager and person, and always tries to do the best for the team”.
