With Manchester United seemingly ever so hell-bent on making statement signings, the fans in the Transfer Tavern have been discussing just who may be safe from the axe.
The Red Devils are in desperate need of some success and have drafted in one of the most ruthless managers in world football, a certain Jose Mourinho.
So, reports from the Manchester Evening News suggesting a clutch of first-team stars could be sweating on their futures have come as little surprise.
The likes of Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, Daley Blind and Marouane Fellaini are all entering the closing 18 months of their respective deals at Old Trafford.
Still, top brass at the club are not thought to be in much rush to open talks with ANY of them in the near future.
While that may be common practice elsewhere considering the relatively short timeframe left on their contracts, United are reportedly ready to wait.
That’s, in part, due to the fact that the club apparently have the option to activate an extension on all of them should they feel the need to.
Many of the aforementioned players were signed under Louis van Gaal during his time at the club, meaning the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ could have some pretty big plans in mind.
Which of these five have a long-term future at the Theatre of Deams? Let us know below…
