Spanish stopper set for La Liga stay?

They can always be relied on for a sensational bit of news for us here in the Football Transfer Tavern and today Marca do not disappoint. They claim that Victor Valdes will not be sold by Barcelona.

Of course the long serving keeper has expressed his desire to leave when his current contract expires in 2014 and has made it clear England is his number one destination, according to a previous report by the same publication. Punters in the tavern had even mooted that a Victor Valdes-David De Gea swap with Manchester United could even be on the cards.

Most of us here at the tavern assumed Barca would sell Valdes this summer in order to avoid losing the player on a free next season, yet Marca claim the club will in fact allow Valdes to see out the remainder of his contract at the Catalan giants.

There has been much speculation over the future of the Spanish keeper, yet it seems Tito Vilanova’s side are keen to hold on to the Spanish international and even try to persuade him to stay – unless an outrageous offer comes in that is.

Is Valdes set to remain at Barcelona? Rate this rumour below.
