Super agent in positive talks with Man United as stunning deal edges ever closer

Van Gaal Mourinho

Hard to go five minutes in the Transfer Tavern without a punter’s smartphone going off with an alert in regards to Manchester United and Jose Mourinho.

That’s been no different today, following reports in the Manchester Evening News that the 53-year old’s agent – the infamous Jorge Mendes – has been seeking firmer assurances from the club that he will be offered the managerial job.

He’s been strongly linked with taking over from the under-fire Louis van Gaal ever since he was axed by Chelsea back in December, though recently insisted nothing has been agreed.

French champions Paris Saint-Germain are believed to have made an approach, though the report claims the Portuguese is keen on taking over at Old Trafford.

However, Mendes is understood to have been in contact with chief executive Ed Woodward and the confidence in the Mourinho camp is said to have been boosted ever since.

The Red Devils have struggled to translate their hefty investment into on the field success over the past few years, with van Gaal coming under fire.

Will he? Won’t he? Mourinho to Manchester United, what do you think?
