Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are willing the team to tie up the runners-up spot so they can fully concentrate on bringing the FA Cup home for a second time in three seasons.
Having to deal with the aftermath of the Sevilla defeat, United will be looking to resurge and finish the season strongly, like many of our long-standing regulars remember they used to under Fergie. Bringing home a trophy would just be a bonus for the fans, as well as keep the pressure off of Jose Mourinho.
The turn of the year gave renewed hope for the Red Devils and a quality signing in Alexis Sanchez during the transfer window thought that they would see an upturn in fortunes. That hasn’t happened as such yet, with the Chilean still finding his Old Trafford feet.
However, now Mourinho must start to gamble a little more in order to reap the benefits next season, and that gamble could start by bringing some youngsters in to freshen up the team in the final few months of the season.
