Manchester United will be desperate to get their campaign underway in the best possible way by beating Leicester City at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have certainly splashed the cash this summer as they gear up for the start of the Premier League campaign, having secured the services of Diogo Dalot, Dean Henderson and Fred.
Indeed, the new season has arrived and United will welcome Leicester City to Old Trafford in what will be a tough encounter against a strong side. Indeed, the opposition have also dipped into the transfer market this summer and have a number of quality players at their disposal.
So, having taken Jose Mourinho’s selections from pre-season friendlies and United’s World Cup players into consideration, we’ve come up with a team that we think the Portuguese boss could line up with against Leicester.

MAN UNITED’S POTENTIAL TEAM VS LEICESTER CITY
We’ve gone with a 3-5-1-1 formation, as that is the formation that Mourinho has looked to make use of during pre-season, and it served United well in the last campaign. This allows the full-backs to get forward into attacking positions to operate as wingers, while the midfielders and the player in the No 10 role will support the striker.
David De Gea will be the first name on the team sheet for Jose Mourinho, as the Spaniard has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in world football over the past couple of years.
In defence, United should field Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling. The latter will be drafted in as a replacement for Timothy Fosuh-Mensah, who has since been sent out on loan to Fulham.
Antonio Valencia is still struggling with injury, so Luke Shaw will take his place on the left. Meanwhile, one of England’s World Cup stars Ashley Young will operate on the opposite flank as he is vital to United’s plans.
Nemanja Matic will protect the defence in the holding position that he made his own last season. Also, World Cup winner Paul Pogba will be desperate to enjoy his best season at Old Trafford yet, with Jesse Lingard operating in a more advanced position as an attacking threat.
Lastly, Alexis Sanchez should be given the nod to operate in behind the striker, using his pace to get into promising positions and possibly even snatching a goal. Meanwhile, Belgium’s Romelu Lukaku will lead the line for the Red Devils after a successful World Cup.
