Manchester United cruised into the fourth round of the FA Cup yesterday with a comfortable 2-0 home win over Reading.

The Red Devils saw off their Championship opponents with ease in the end to move into the next phase of the competition, and all eyes will now return to focussing on the Premier League for the coming weeks.

This time of year is always a tricky one too for clubs, with the January window in full flow and plenty of clubs interesting in bringing players into their squads from all areas of the globe.

United are likely to be active, with Ole Solskjaer likely to make one or two additions to his squad if he can, and we at the Tavern think that Brazilian defender Pablo could well prove to be a snip for the Old Trafford club if they want to add quality.

The Brazilian defender, given his debut for the Selecao only last year, has been impressing for French side Bordeaux, and valued at just £10m by Transfermarkt, he could prove to be a shrewd addition for United.

Quick in the heart of defence and at 27 the right age to come in and be at his prime, Pablo would relish the chance of a move to a club the size of United if given the opportunity.

Defence is one position United really do need to add to, and with so many big names likely to be unavailable in January, moving for someone with the pedigree of Pablo and at the price he might come at, could be a sound piece of business by the Red Devils.
