Manchester United fans are disappointed with how their pre-season has gone thus far and hope that more new faces arrive at Old Trafford to strengthen their title chances.
Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant are the only arrivals at Old Trafford so far, which is concerning for the title-chasing Manchester United fans. Despite the chance that those players could come good and become very helpful in their title bid, improvements elsewhere in the team must be made as well to ensure success is viable.
With the future of Luke Shaw sill up in the air, given his lack of recent action, adding left back Ferland Mendy as a potential replacement could be fine business based on his recent performances.
Mendy, 23, made 27 Ligue 1 appearances for Lyon last season, making a real statement from left-back as he bossed defence and attack, providing four assists during the season.
Luke Shaw’s fitness has been a long-standing issue with manager Jose Mourinho and now new signing Diogo Dalot is injured. Judging by Ferland Mendy’s rise to the top with Lyon, he could be just the replacement for Manchester United.
He’s solid defensively and potent going forward, and though he’s clearly still improving, the 23-year-old has enough quality to make a real impact at the club.
Man Utd finished 2nd in the league last season, but given that it was Mourinho’s first time with the Red Devils without winning at least one trophy, they need to eye improvements – starting with the full-back area. A move for Mendy, then, makes a ton of sense.
