Manchester United: Red Devils fans react to Shanghai Shenhua’s offer to Odion Ighalo - Manchester United

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United loanee Odion Ighalo has been offered a new contract extension worth over £400k a week by his parent club Shanghai Shenhua.

The Nigerian’s current agreement expires at the end of 2021 and the Flower of Shanghai are keen to prolong his stay in China for a further two years.

After arriving at Old Trafford in January on a short-term loan, Ighalo has bagged 4 goals in 8 appearances in all competitions for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, notably scoring a brace against Derby County in the FA Cup at the beginning of March. His current market value is rated at just £5.85m via Transfermarkt.

The 30-year-old was brought in to cover for Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial but has exceeded all expectations so far. Ighalo has seized full advantage of the opportunity, taking 2.7 shots per game, averaging 2 key passes, and completing 1.7 dribbles successfully in the Europa League (WhoScored).

Given his electric return to the Premier League, it is hardly surprising the Chinese club are attempting to keep a hold of the former Nigerian international, although Solskjaer has admitted he is eager to sign Ighalo on a permanent basis in the summer.
