Manchester United are never far from the conversation here at the Football Transfer Tavern and the Daily Mail have proved that once again. The paper claim that Wilfried Zaha is close to the move that will take him to Old Trafford
It has long been reported that the player will be on his way this winter and Manchester United have recently rushed to the front of the queue to sign the player. Arsenal have looked at the starlet but Sir Alex Ferguson’s skills of persuasion seemed to have won out when the player himself tweeted: “Looks like I’m on my way to the top of the Premier League”. Of course the tweet was promptly deleted but the secret was outed.
Whilst most now assume the player is on his way to Old Trafford, the price is still a point of negotiation with Palace wanting more than the £6 million United are currently offering. David Gill recently gave the clearest indication yet that the club want Zaha, telling Sky Sports news: “He is one of the players that we are looking at. That is all I will say at the moment. I’ve been in football long enough to say that is not done until it’s done. He’s one of the players we are looking at, but it is far from done.”
Whilst the club want to secure the player now, they are willing to let him rejoin the Eagles on loan until next season.
