Russian big-spenders Anzhi Makhachkala are tracking Manchester United’s warrior defender Nemanja Vidic according to Caughtoffside.com
It is believed to be a fee of around £30 million that the Russian billionaires are offering. Vidic will become the latest Premier League star that Anzhi have been linked with in a space of a month after previously being linked with the likes of Anelka, Van Persie, Ashley Cole, Lampard and Gerrard.
With the Serbian being 30 and his season virtually being hampered by injuries, the Russians believe a £30 million offer could sway Sir Alex to sell his most powerful defender. As much as Vidic is so important to the United team, Sir Alex has shown that there is life without his two most experienced defenders. This season has seen the rise of emerging young prospects Smalling and Phil Jones break through the United first team, and haven’t looked out of shape. It clearly shows Sir Alex has the future in prospect and with an offer of that enormity; Fergie could possibly be tempted to sell his most talented defender.
Even though Vidic has stated his intention to retire at Old Trafford, sources believe that Anzhi are offering a lucrative salary increase that could turn Vidic’s head around. The 30-year-old Serbian has won a host of honours during his spell at United including four Premier League titles, a Champions League title, three league cups and a Fifa World Club cup. Perhaps a fresh new challenge could be on the cards for the Serbian international.
