Metro note that Manchester United fans should prepared for more disappointment here in the Football Transfer Tavern as David Moyes has been told to stay well away from Roma legend Daniele De Rossi on deadline day.
The midfielder has been linked with a move away from the Italian capital club this summer and both Chelsea and Manchester United have been heavily linked with the creative player.
At the start of the summer it had seemed that Jose Mourinho would be the one to come in with a big money offer for the player, yet now it seems that David Moyes is the one lurking.
New Roma manager Rudi Garcia was asked about the future of De Rossi as the transfer window draws to a close for another summer and noted that: “Daniele De Rossi isn’t only a big player, but he’s also a big man.
“He has been here at Roma for a long time and he wants to play with this jersey.
“We spoke when he came back from his holidays and we said that, if it got past a certain date, he would certainly remain with us.
“He will stay here for the whole season and this is something that satisfies me a lot.”
Of course this means that David Moyes has missed out on another target this summer although the club can take heart from the fact that they have managed to keep Wayne Rooney away from Chelsea’s clutches.
Manchester United fans. With the Herrera and De Rossi moves looking like failing, who will the Red Devils move for now?
