The Sun have Manchester United fans looking slightly shocked here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
This is because they report that the club are still trying to decide if they should sign on-loan forward Radamel Falcao from Monaco or not!
It was recently reported by The Mirror that United had agreed a deal in principle to sign the former Porto and Atletico Madrid hitman. However, today’s reports totally contradict this.
Now as we note, the Colombian international forward is one of the best players in the world and the Red Devils have certainly missed his goalscoring talents in recent crunch fixtures against Chelsea and Manchester City.
We think that United should be making the deal a permanent one given Robin van Persie is not getting any younger while also drying up in terms of registering goals on a consistent basis.
Falcao would cost United in the region of £48 million to land permanently but as our landlord notes over pouring the perfect pint, should he help them get back into the Champions League, that would be money very well spent in our eyes!
Louis van Gaal is certainly rebuilding the Old Trafford club and whilst we would sanction the deal, the rest of their cash should certainly be spent on their defence which is in dire need of reinforcements.
Manchester United fans. Are you surprised that Manchester United are still mulling over whether to land Falcao permanently? Surely it is a no-brainer? Let us know your thoughts below.
