Manchester United’s Michael Owen Flying, Horses and Houses

Apart from the weeks, and probably months, spent in the physio room’s in Madrid, Liverpool, Newcastle and now Manchester, Michael Owen does have a number of hobbies outside of football.

Horses! Yes, our four-legged, potentially money yielding friends. Owen has a lot of horses, and is more than happy sitting in the grandstand watching his horses racing. While he is keen or racing, his wife is just as passionate about saving the animals.

Very keen to stay away from the whole WAG culture, Louise is never seen coming out of nightclub’s or splashed across the back pages of the tabloids. She likes to keep a low profile and is Patron of the Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre, a project which looks to help injured horses.

Michael has set up Manor House Stables in Cheshire, which will have the capacity to hold over 50 horses. Along with the horses, Owen is also a qualified pilot. Renowned for turning up to training at Newcastle by air, the player has a landing area at his house for his own helicopter.

He also has a vast number of houses and property which he develops and sells. He famously bought a whole street of houses for each member of his family. Bit like monopoly really! The key is in that sentence, Owen is a family man, and along with a spot of golf, he enjoys nothing more than being with them. Very keen to keep his private life, ‘private’, Owen should be applauded for his maturity and for not being drawn in to the modern ‘footballer’ lifestyle.
