Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are reassured by talkSPORT that last summer’s move for Juventus’ Arturo Vidal didn’t materialise due to the player’s injury problems.
This comes after the Red Devils were heavily linked with a move for the Chilean all summer but disappointingly were unable to complete the move.
However Juventus’ club CEO, Giuseppe Marotta, has revealed that proceedings stalled because of injury problems, which meant the deal fell through.
And Louis van Gaal reportedly had doubts with his overall fitness making it difficult for the United boss to commit to a huge fee for the midfielder.
It is linked to the same knee injury which kept the 27-year-old out of the World Cup and with van Gaal’s involvement at the competition, he was put off buying him.
“The injury influenced his departure, even now he doesn’t have the best physical condition,” said Marotta.
“For our part, however, there is the clear desire to keep him because we renewed his contract.”
