Manchester United’s top FIVE ‘weak links’ so far this season

Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have had that Monday feeling more than most, having watched their side go down to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of arch-rivals Manchester City on Sunday.

In what was hardly a poor performance from Louis van Gaal’s side, a first half red card from Red Devils defender Chris Smalling proved costly, with Sergio Aguero firing a second half winner against the ten men.

It is now three games without a win for the 20-time English champions, who currently occupy 10th place in the table and sit six points behind fourth-placed Arsenal.

And despite Louis van Gaal insisting his side can catch league leaders Chelsea, a gap of 13 points between the sides looks too much to make up already – despite us only being in early November.

Despite spending over ¬£150 million on new players in the summer, too many members of United’s first team squad are yet to show up this season.

Here, we have identified the top five ‘weak links’ so far during this campaign.
