In news that will not come as a surprise to Manchester City fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern, the Daily Mail have claimed that Roberto Mancini has laid down the law to his playing staff.
A massive summer clear out and shake up has been rumoured for most of the season after seeing the Champions League campaign epically fail and the league slip away from their grasp. In fact for most City fans the highlight of their season has been trying to get one over on United and allowing Real Madrid to use their stadium to train.
All of this has prompted Mancini to rage that the players who in his words need to take responsibility for their failings. The Italian tactician claimed: “I don’t like players that never think it’s their fault. These players can’t play with me. Sometimes it’s important that one player takes his responsibility because when you are a top player you earn a lot of money and you should always play at 100 per cent. I want strong players that are upset with me when they don’t play but after that show me they deserve to play.”
Not naming names, City fans probably have a good idea of who could be amalgamated into the infamous list of those who enjoy a strop instead of a chin-up attitude and all the Citizens’ playing staff will have to be pulling in the right direction up until the end of the campaign in order to prove they weren’t simply one season wonders!
Is Mancini right to rant at his players at this specific time of the season? Let us know your thoughts below.
