Here at the Football Transfer Tavern we are placing down our pints and looking away after reading about the sensational rant in the Daily Mail from Roberto Mancini about his underperforming Manchester City squad.
The Italian tactician has been under fire of late and the fact that City are not only 12 points behind United in the league but also out of the Champions League yet again is not lost on not only the board but also the fans. Cue a defiant Mancini and rumours of a massive shake up in the summer.
Not only have we been linking the manager with a fair few players in the tavern over the last couple of days but there are also rumours of mass departures. Now in a sensational rant Mancini spoke about not only who he wanted to buy in the summer but also who he was willing to drop and get rid of.
The Italian told the Guardian that: “I like (Cavani) but all the world wants him. There are big players. I don’t know what can happen. Suarez plays for a top team like Liverpool. Cavani plays for Napoli. There’s Falcao but, again, all the managers like him. Neymar is a good player, he’s young but I don’t know if he’s ready to play in England because the football is totally different.”
He also spoke out about two of his current players – keeper Joe Hart who he would be more than happy to drop if his form did not improve and also Samir Nasri who he claimed: “Samir can do better than this year. He is a top player but he has not been playing at his level.”
Is Mancini right to talk about transfer targets so openly? Let us know your thoughts below.
