Manolo Gabbiadini open to move back to Italy

Manolo Gabbiadini open to move back to Italy

Southampton have struggled to find positive results in the Premier League this season and were on the wrong end of a 6-1 thumping from Manchester City at the weekend.

Mark Hughes’ side find themselves just two points above the relegation zone, having been able to win just one match all season so far.

The Saints have found it difficult to score goals, having netted just seven in their opening 11 games, raising real concerns about their status in the Premier League.

However, according to reports, one man may not be on the south coast for what is likely to be a tough period.

Calciomercato are claiming Manolo Gabbiadini is open to a move away from the St. Mary’s Stadium, despite his agent continually dispelling those rumours in the Italian media.

Bologna are just the latest club thought to hold an interest in the striker, however, it is believed he will need to take a big pay cut in order for it to happen, with the Serie A outfit’s highest earner, Mattia Destro, earning around 1.8million a year, with Gabbiadini earning ‘well over 2m.’

The Verdict:

Despite the constant denial of rumours and insistence that he his happy at Southampton, the Italian media continue to circulate them.

Gabbiadini could look to push a move away from the club in the winter as he has struggled for game-time, with Hughes preferring to use Danny Ings, Charlie Austin and Shane Long as his go-to men.

However, as the report states, the Italy international will need to reduce his wage demands in order to get a move to Bologna, so it remains to be seen if the 26-year-old will still be on the south coast beyond the January transfer window.
