West Ham United could finally have some good news this season following a rather poor start to their Premier League campaign.
According to a report by Claret and Hugh, who are a reliable source of information for all things West Ham, Manuel Lanzini has been making good progress as he looks to recover from his serious injury.
The Argentine picked up an ACL injury just before Argentina’s disastrous World Cup and had been expected to miss the majority of the Premier League season.
However, there are now suggestions that he could be ready to feature for the club just after the festive period, albeit for the developmental side.
“Given the terrible injury there were even doubts as to whether he would play again – now we are discussing whether he will be back before the end of the season!” Hugh and Claret were told.
“And given his amazing attitude and progress there is no doubt about that and if you were an optimist you might expect him to be back in action – firstly for the under 23s – early next year.
“There was a lot of ligament damage and that is mending but he is in the gym pumping iron and keeping himself fit.
“Many has a really great attitude and doing everything he is told and there’s no reason at this point why he shouldn’t his his target playing again this season.”
West Ham have had a torrid time since the start of the season and this injury update regarding Lanzini will be pleasing for boss Manuel Pellegrini.
The winger was a key figure for the side last season and managed to put in a number of integral performances for David Moyes’ side to help them retain their Premier League status.
However, the Argentine’s a way off from making a return to the first-team and the Chilean will be looking for his players to get their first points of the season once the international break finishes when they head to Goodison Park to face Everton on Sunday.
