Manuel Pellegrini admits he wants more additions at West Ham

West Ham United have shocked everyone this summer with their transfer business and it appears that Manuel Pellegrini is not yet content with the squad he has assembled.

The Hammers have already added seven high-profile players to their team as the Chilean looks to guide them to a European football spot next season.

The likes of Jack Wilshere, Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko have all joined to help give the club a creative outlet, as well as a winning mentality, as well as key additions at the back to help sure up the defensive line.

However, according to a report in the Daily Mail, the West Ham boss is set to continue his search for more players to join his squad.

Pellegrini revealed that three injuries to key players has meant that they will use the transfer window up until the last day to try and build the strongest possible squad.

“We are trying to build a strong squad. We know the Premier League is not easy and you don’t just need a team, you need a squad,” he told the Daily Mail.

“We have seven new players but we have three important players injured, so until the last day to bring in players we will try to build as strong squad as possible.”

The Verdict:

West Ham have had a solid transfer window this summer already and it will be interesting to see who the Hammers can bring to the London Stadium in the final few weeks.

Pellegrini is thought to still be chasing another centre-back and a striker, following the injuries to Winston Reid and Andy Carroll, whilst he could also look to add another goalkeeper to the ranks.

He currently has Lukasz Fabianski and Adrian, however, it is thought the Spaniard would not want to remain in east London as an understudy to the Poland international, so West Ham may be wise to look for another shot-stopper.
