West Ham United have made a number of additions this summer, however, it appears that one man will not be heading back to the London Stadium.
According to a report by Football.London, Manuel Pellegrini has stated that James Collins will not be making a return to the Hammers and believes he has all the players he needs to have a successful season.
The defender was released last summer following the expiration of his contract and has been working with the club to ensure he is in the best possible position to find himself another club.
However, with the additions of Issa Diop and Fabian Balbeuna this summer, it does not appear that the Welshman will have a chance of becoming a West Ham player again.
“The squad is ready, we are not bringing any more players in or leave any out,” he told Football.London.
“James asked to work here while he finds a club. He played here for a lot of years so always the door is open to work with our squad. It is not more than that.”
Collins had been a loyal servant to West Ham during his time with the Londoners, however, it does not appear that he will have another chance to play for the club again.
With the additions of Diop and Balbuena, the Hammers have a number of options available to them at centre-back and Pellegrini is probably right to not re-sign the Welshman to a new deal.
However, with the way the Irons are currently playing, you would have to feel that Collins could have made a difference in their last two Premier League games.
