Arsenal appear to be turning to a familiar face as they look to bring a Director of Football to the club.
According to a report by The Daily Mail, Marc Overmars is being tipped as the front runner for the position.
It is claimed the former Arsenal winger could join them in the summer in a similar role to the one he currently holds at Ajax, where he has been hugely successful in transfer dealings.
He has seen the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Arkadiusz Milik and Davinson Sanchez all arrive on relatively cheap deals for the Eredivisie outfit before selling them on for huge fees.
The Dutch side have denied that the Gunners have approached their former player about the possibility of joining them, however, it is understood he is on a shortlist of candidates for the Premier League side.
Overmars spent three seasons at Highbury before joining Barcelona in 2000 and made 141 appearances scoring 41 times across all competitions.
Overmars could be an extremely popular choice at Arsenal and one that could finally bring in the players that the Gunners desperately need.
The Dutchman obviously has a connection with the club and that could work to their advantage in north London, as well as having an eye for talented players and being able to strike great deals.
However, Ajax will not want to see their current Director of Football leave the club and it could be difficult for the 45-year-old to leave the club he left to join Arsenal once before.
