Everton’s Marcel Brands appears to have taken a real liking to one of Europe’s hottest prospects.
The Toffees’ sporting director has revealed that he is an admirer of Mohammed Ihattaren, who plays currently plays for PSV Eindhoven, a club Brands knows well.
The 17-year-old appears to be just another of the Dutch talents set to come into the game with a promising future ahead of him.
Speaking to Voetbal International, Brands admitted that he would jump at the chance of bringing him to Everton, although he was stated that the player was not ready to make the move to a club of their size just yet.
“Frankly, I’d like to have him with Everton tomorrow, he’s so good,” he said.
“But I do not think that’s the path he should take. He will need an intermediate step later. In that respect, Mo is good at PSV.
“The next step to the Premier League is really big and it can also go wrong with a talent.”
There should not be any real surprise that Brands is a fan of Ihattaren, with the midfielder starting to make a name for himself.
The teenager was part of the Holland Under-17 side that were crowned European Champions in 2018, whilst he has recently also forced himself into Mark van Bommel’s first-team at PSV.
Brands would be right to suggest the player is better off staying put with the Eredivisie side, however, it would not be surprising to see a ‘big’ European club come in for him in the near future.
