The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Sam Allardyce will depart the club this summer following a disappointing six months under his leadership.
The resident Toffees propping up our bar have extremely high standards for their club and thus far Allardyce has failed to match those standards during his time as manager of the club. On paper, the results have been satisfactory at the very least, however, it’s the manner in which Everton have been performing which has frustrated the supporters and caused them to call for Allardyce’s dismissal.
Ultimately, Allardyce has performed the job he was brought in to do, but his style of football is not well aligned with what the supporters demand from their side. With that being said, it’s no surprise that they are being linked with a manager who is known for implementing an aesthetically appealing brand of football, namely Marco Silva.
According to reports in The Daily Mirror, Everton are interested in replacing Allardyce with Silva this summer, although they will face competition from West Ham for his signature. Considering the Everton supporters want to see an exciting brand of attacking football on show at Goodison Park, Silva represents a perfect appointment and, if he does indeed join Everton, he should raid his former club for Richarlison (valued at £18 million by Transfermarkt).
After an electric opening to his life in English football, the Brazilian prospect has rather fizzled out in the past 6 months. The 21-year-old took the Premier League by storm in his first 13 appearances by notching 5 goals and providing 4 assists, but since the end of November he has managed to add just 1 more assist from 24 appearances.
His record is certainly concerning, but he enjoyed much of his early success under the watchful eye of Silva when he was in charge of the Hornets – a fact which suggest he knows how to get the best out of Richarlison. Everton are lacking quality in the final-third, particularly on the left-wing where they only have Yannick Bolasie to chose from, so Silva should do everything in his power to convince his former colleague to re-join him on Merseyside next season if he takes over from Allardyce.
