Everton have needed a striker who can find the back of the net on a regular basis for some time now and many would have expected Cenk Tosun to have been the man for the job when he arrived in January 2018.
The Toffees shelled out a whopping £27 million for the Turkish forward when Sam Allardyce was in charge, however, he has failed to live up to expectations at Goodison Park. Things have not improved for the 27-year-old under Marco Silva this season either, and it appears the Portuguese manager is not prepared to give him too much more time to show what he can offer.
What’s the News?
Football Insider have claimed that Silva is prepared to offload Tosun this summer as he does not see the forward as the man to spearhead his attack.
The Turkey international has had to spend a lot of time waiting in the wings for his chance to impress, as the manager has looked at other options ahead of him.
Tosun clearly has not been able to do what Everton had hoped he would have been able to achieve for them when they splashed the cash for him and are right to try and look to recoup some of their money for him in the summer.
The 27-year-old has struggled for goals during his time at Goodison Park, having recorded just seven goals in his 37 Premier League appearances so far and continues to be overlooked by Silva when he picks his team.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been used more often than not, whilst Richarlison has also been trusted as a focal point of the attack at times throughout the campaign, even though the Brazilian is not a recognised centre-forward.
However, whether Everton will be able to offload Tosun in the summer remains to be seen. With his poor performances for the club potentially putting off any possible suitors being one thing, whether they can find anyone willing to pay an attractive transfer fee could be a completely different story.
