Marco Silva tells four first-team players they are surplus to requirements

Everton have started to rebuild their squad this summer as they prepare for the upcoming Premier League campaign.

Marco Silva has added Lucas Digne and Richarlison to his side during the transfer window and has allowed a number of players to leave so far to help reduce the size of his team.

The Toffees have seen both Wayne Rooney and Davy Klaassen both depart after disappointing debut seasons at Goodison Park and it appears that the new manager is ready to let another four players leave.

According to a report in the Liverpool Echo, Ashley Williams, Kevin Mirallas, Cuco Martina and Nikola Vlasic have all been told that they do not feature in Silva’s plans and have been told to find new clubs.

The report also claims the players have been frozen out from the squad and have been told to train away from the senior side.

The Verdict:

Williams and Mirallas’ exclusions do not really come as a surprise as both have looked past their best for recently.

The defender was a focal point for criticism from a number of supporters last year for his performances, whilst the winger was sent to Olympiakos on loan and failed to impress in Greece.

Vlasic and Martina would have been considered to have been first-team players that may have played a role in the side next season, however, Silva obviously feels happier with the other options he has.
