Marco Silva will have a huge job on his hands at Everton this summer. The Toffees have a huge squad and the Portuguese manager will have to use the upcoming transfer window to try and offload a number of them.
Indeed, the Goodison Park outfit will still need to make improvements to their side if they are to continue to compete in the Premier League next year, although offloading men must be considered just as much a priority.
However, that might be a task Silva finds easier said than done.
What’s the News?
According to a report by The Mirror, Silva wants to get rid of up to 18 senior members of the Everton team, although he knows that it is not realistic to do so in one transfer window.
It is claimed he would consider offers for the likes of Brendan Galloway, James McCarthy and Morgan Schneiderlin, whilst he could offload Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun if he receives acceptable bids for the attacking pair.
The Toffees have a number of players out on loan who also do not appear to have futures at Goodison Park with the likes of Sandro Ramirez, Kevin Mirallas, Oumar Niasse, Yannick Bolasie, Nikola Vlasic, Mo Besic and Kieran Dowell who could all fetch transfer fees in the summer.
It is no secret that Everton will need to undergo surgery this summer and completely rid themselves of deadwood, however, it looks almost impossible that they will be able to do it over the upcoming transfer window.
There are far too many players on the club’s books at the moment, although it does present the Toffees with an excellent opportunity of making some financial gain from sales. All the men mentioned could fetch decent transfer fees and almost all of them do not appear to have any future at Goodison Park under Silva.
Walcott could be considered a surprise name, whilst Vlasic may also fall into that category as he has been impressive during his loan spell at CSKA Moscow.
However, whether Silva is successful in trying to clear the books this summer, whilst making his own additions, remains to be seen, but a busy transfer window definitely appears to be on the cards.
