Marco Silva arrived at Everton in the summer to try and take Everton to the next level and get them back into European football.

The Toffees had a rather poor season last year by their own standards and the Portuguese manager was ushered in to replace Sam Allardyce after he saved them from the drop.

The Goodison Park outfit had plenty of changes in the summer, with a number of faces coming in whilst a fair few also departed the club as well.

Although Silva managed to add the likes of Yerry Mina, Andre Gomes, Bernard and Richarlison to his squad, one man that was already at Everton appears to have benefited from the 41-year-old’s arrival.

Gylfi Sigurdsson joined the Toffees for a then club-record fee of around £40million plus bonuses from Swansea City, but he struggled to get going under Ronald Koeman and Allardyce thereafter.

In the 33 games he played across all competitions, he managed to bag himself just six goals and looked to have been an extremely expensive luxury player for a long period of time.

Arguably, life at Goodison Park was made a lot tougher for him in the early stages of his career in Merseyside as he was constantly played out of position.

However, since the arrival of Silva, Sigurdsson has hit red-hot form and become a vital part of the Portuguese’s team.

He is utilised as an attacking midfielder and sits just behind the striker in his favoured position, something which Everton have certainly benefited from this season.

The Iceland international has popped up with five goals and two assists in his 12 Premier League games so far, which has included match-winning contributions.

Rated at £27m by Transfermarkt, the 29-year-old’s career at Everton has certainly been transformed with the arrival of the new manager and is now regarded as one of the first names on the team-sheet.
