According to a recent report from The Scottish Sun, Rangers are interested in signing Harry Wilson this summer from Liverpool in a short-term loan deal.

The 21-year-old starred at Hull City last season during a 6-month loan spell in which he managed to score 7 goals and provide 4 assists from 13 appearances, earning a new contract with Liverpool in the process.

But with plenty of clubs queuing up to sign him on loan this summer, Liverpool could be tempted to give him further experience elsewhere before giving him a chance to shine in the first-team.

According to The Times journalist Paul Joyce, 13 named clubs 'and others' are interested in signing Wilson on loan this summer, so clearly it's a tough ask for Rangers to win the race for his signature.

With that in mind, Steven Gerrard would be wise to turn his attention towards another young Premier League talent who is verging on a breakthrough, namely Marcus Edwards of Tottenham Hotspur.

The 19-year-old winger was once described as a 'mini Messi' by Mauricio Pochettino, but that comparison has been misunderstood somewhat.

Pochettino was referring to Edwards' low centre of gravity and his ability to bypass players whilst dribbling with the ball close to his feet rather than his potential to become one of the greatest players the world has ever seen.

A loan spell with Norwich City last season was cut short due to punctuality problems and issues away from the field, but under a manager who commands the level of respect which Gerrard is likely to receive from his players, Edwards should be well-placed to a turn a signficant corner in his development.

Sure, Edwards is unproven at senior level, but so was Wilson before he moved to Hull City in January.

There's no doubt that Edwards could inject an electric spark into Rangers' attacking play next season if Gerrard is willing to trust him and do everything he can to help him settle in Glasgow, so he should be firmly on the club's radar in the event that Wilson rejects a move to Ibrox this summer.
