Southampton won’t want a repeat of the last campaign as they struggled to ensure consistency, and performances don’t seem to have improved during pre-season.
The Saints will be desperate to enjoy a better campaign this time round and have certainly made moves on the transfer front this summer. However, with a few improvements still required, Mark Hughes has offered up a slightly worrying transfer window update, as according to The Daily Echo, Hughes admitted that it is unlikely that he will dip back into the transfer market before the window shuts.
Mark Hughes has refused to entirely rule out Saints dipping into the transfer market before the close of the window but admits it is unlikely.
The Saints boss is preparing to go with what he’s got at least until January and is not expecting any major ins or outs.
“At this moment in time as we stand here we are probably at a point where we are not likely to do any business, but you never know.”
It doesn’t look as if the Saints will draft any more players in this summer as Mark Hughes has stated that it is unlikely. However, departures may be in the offing as Fraser Forster heads towards the exits and there is interest in the club’s youngsters.
But, supporters will be disappointed that the club aren’t necessarily going to make use of the summer transfer window in terms of potential signings, as there’re improvements still yet to be had at St Mary’s.
