Crystal Palace have moved to tie down one of their players to a new long-term deal.
The Eagles have confirmed on their official club website that Martin Kelly has agreed to a contract extension that will see him remain at the club until June 2021.
The defender has been with the south London outfit since 2014, having arrived from Liverpool, and has gone on to make over 100 appearances in the years since.
However, he has struggled for game time this season, having made just five Premier League appearances.
With the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Mamadou Sakho, James Tomkins and Patrick van Aanholt all seemingly preferred, the 28-year-old has had to make do with a squad role.
The news that Kelly has received a new contract with Crystal Palace will not come as too much of a surprise to fans.
As mentioned, the 28-year-old has had to make do with a squad role, however, he is a more than useful option for Hodgson to utilise should he ever need to make a change in his defensive line.
Crystal Palace will now be looking to cement their place in the Premier League this season after a tricky campaign and will look to their match with Leicester City at the weekend as one were they need to get a positive result.
