Massive blow for Manchester United as top target snubs switch

Angel Di Maria

Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are shocked to hear the latest rumours concerning their club from The Express.

This is after the publication claimed top transfer target Angel Di Maria is set to snub a move to Old Trafford.

Recent reports suggested the Argentine World Cup star had agreed a contract worth a staggering £150,000-a–week at United, but reports today suggest he is set to snub United in favour of a club able to offer Champions League football.

The news will come as a major blow to United, who had considered the deal to be all but done and dusted, whilst Chelsea and Arsenal have been put on red alert following the news.

Di Maria is currently in Brazil preparing for tonight’s World Cup final with Germany.

The 27-year-old has been a key member of the first Argentina side to reach a World Cup Final in 24 years, whilst he also enjoyed a fine season under Carlo Ancelotti for Real Madrid, putting in a man of the match performance in their Champions League final triumph over Atletico Madrid.

Di Maria hit four goals last season, and provided an incredible 17 assists.

If either Chelsea or Arsenal hope to lure him to London this summer, they will be forced to meet Real Madrid’s £40million asking price.

Manchester United fans. Do you see Di Maria being the first of many to reject a move to Old Trafford citing a lack of Champions League football as the reason? Let us know your thoughts below.
