Matic is right: Man Utd should land £28.8m-rated ace to solve their experience problem

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern spent their weekend bemoaning their side’s lack of success this season, with the Red Devils finishing the campaign trophyless.

Granted, they did finish second, but it’s clear that further improvement is needed.

Midfielder Nemanja Matic has recently been discussing their lack of success, and he’s revealed what he thinks the club needs to do to win trophies next season.

He said: “We need some players with some experience to bring some more qualities to our team”.

Man Utd have aimed to be more progressive in recent years by signing young, inexperienced players that have high skill ceilings. However, that seemingly hasn’t been an effective decision as of yet, and so bringing in a bit more proven quality may make sense.

One player that would certainly fit the bill is Chelsea winger Willian, who is rated £28.5 million by Transfer Markt.

Willian doesn’t seem to be much of a favourite of manager Antonio Conte at the moment, given his lack of action, and so he could perhaps be open to the prospect of a move up to Manchester.

For Man Utd, he would work in that he’s won a plethora of trophies in recent years. FA Cups, Premier Leagues, Willian is no stranger to winning big, and that experience could be crucial for the club. Not to mention, his brilliant pace, technique and goalscoring have made him a real force down the flanks for the Blues in recent years.

Let’s not forget, too, that Mourinho is well aware of what Willian can do from their time together at Chelsea, and so this could be a match made in heaven for the club.

He’d tick all the boxes in that he’d be a fantastic choice on the pitch with the ball at his feet, and a fantastic presence on and off the field too.
