It’s been a long January transfer window for Chelsea. Not only have the Blues been made to wait for major deals – with even Gonzalo Higuain’s move only coming within the last week – but fans have also been left sweating over the future of one of the club’s most exciting young talents.
Over the last few weeks, Callum Hudson-Odoi has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich – with Sky Sports suggesting that a £35 million bid had come in for the young Englishman.
Naturally, Chelsea fans are very protective of their own, and it’s fair to say that most would have been desperate for him to remain throughout the saga.
Fortunately for them, that’s exactly what’s looking set to happen. Maurizio Sarri has today (Tuesday) confirmed exactly what fans have been waiting weeks to hear. Ahead of the Blues’ tie with Bournemouth, he’s confirmed – via the official Chelsea Twitter – that Hudson-Odoi is set to remain with the club this month, and perhaps in the summer too.
Maurizio Sarri says the club have told him in this window Callum Hudson-Odoi will remain with us for sure, and very probably in the next window as well. #BOUCHE

This follows reports yesterday, from the Telegraph, indicating that Hudson-Odoi was set to stay – but at that stage, they were just reports. Now it’s been confirmed.
When a big team comes in for a young player, especially with reports of a transfer request being handed in, it’s always a worry that the club could be forced to sell.
Fortunately, Chelsea fans will be able to continue singing ‘Hudson-Odoi, we want you to stay’ for at least a few months yet.
This is a huge move from Chelsea. Rejecting such a huge bid for an unproven player highlights the faith that the club have in Hudson-Odoi, and that bodes very well indeed for his future.
Chelsea fans will undoubtedly be so happy with this news. Most will have been aware of his talents for years, owing to his exploits within the developmental system at Stamford Bridge. He’s looked better than most young players at Stamford Bridge for a while, and a first-team berth looked obvious. Now, he could finally get that, and though it’s been a long time coming, it’s better late than never.
However, rejecting the interest from Bayern is only the start for Chelsea.
If they want to have any chance of keeping him at the club long-term, the Blues simply must ensure that Hudson-Odoi is given regular minutes. That’s the only way to keep him.
Maurizio Sarri, then, must back up his words with action. If not, this story will have an unhappy ending for fans.
