Meetings scheduled: Liverpool set to hold talks with 20-cap international this month

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for a few new faces to move to Merseyside this month, but they’re also keen to ensure that their entire squad stays together.

Jurgen Klopp has built quite the team at Liverpool, with some of Europe’s finest talents currently on display at Anfield. From Roberto Firmino to Mo Salah to Virgil van Dijk, many of Klopp’s stars are impressing.

Another player that is looking very good at present is Emre Can, and with his fine performances have come some nerves amongst our resident Reds. Can’s contract at Anfield expires at the end of the season, and concern is growing that the German could be about to leave the club on a free.

However, that is a situation that could yet be avoided. According to Sky Sports, Liverpool are set to hold more talks with the German at the end of January as they continue their efforts to secure his long-term future at Anfield.

Can’s commitment cannot be doubted, but thus far, an agreement has not been reached between the two parties. This report, however, suggests that there is still a hope – on both sides – that they can continue working together. More talks this month are the perfect way of attempting to secure just that.

Landlord’s Verdict

It’s is vital that Liverpool secure a contract for the 20-cap German international.

Not only will they want to avoid losing him on a free, but he has quickly emerged as a crucial player under Jurgen Klopp. Controlling the game through the midfield, he has really developed over the last few years.

Offering fantastic energy and drive through the midfield, Can is one of Klopp’s most trusted and consistent options.
