Liverpool supporters have been pretty upbeat in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side get back to winning ways in the Premier League courtesy of a 4-0 drubbing of Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their clash on the South Coast off the back of successive draws against Everton and West Brom, but they produced a clinical attacking display to see off the Cherries to record their tenth league win of the campaign. Goals from Philippe Coutinho, Dejan Lovren, Mohamed Salah, and Roberto Firmino secured a comprehensive victory for the Merseyside giants, who in turn moved above Tottenham into fourth place in the Premier League table after they lost 4-1 to table-toppers Manchester City a day earlier.
Subsequently, there have been many thrilled Liverpudlians in the Tavern in recent times, and they could well become even more buoyant if a recent report from The Independent is anything to go by, which suggests that a mega money move for Thomas Lemar could well be on in January.
The 22-year-old played a key part in Monaco’s incredible success last season, netting 14 goals and laying on 17 assists to help Leonardo Jardim’s side to the Ligue 1 title, as well as the last four of the Champions League.
And although things haven’t quite gone as well for the Frenchman, or indeed the club, this term, the forward still remains hot property with Arsenal and indeed Liverpool reportedly keeping tabs on him in recent times.
Yet recent reports suggest that the 22-year-old’s preference is to move to Anfield over the Emirates Stadium, in promising news which is sure to intrigue and perhaps excite several of our resident Reds fans ahead of the January transfer window.
Landlord’s verdict: It looked for all the world that Thomas Lemar would make the move to Arsenal during the summer, only for no deal to materialise in the last knockings of the transfer window.
Yet both they and indeed Liverpool have reportedly kept tabs on the 22-year-old in the last few months, but recent reports suggest that it is Jurgen Klopp’s Reds who lead the chase for the forward, what with it believed that Merseyside his preference over a move to the Emirates Stadium.
And that is sure to come as good news to our resident Liverpool fans, many of whom are already daring to dream about the frighteningly good frontline Klopp could put out in the Premier League in 2018.
