Despite their recent 2-0 loss to Liverpool, Roy Hodgson will be relatively pleased with Crystal Palace's start to the season.

And, while the south London club were unable to take anything away from the game against Jurgen Klopp's men, the performance they put in that day was decent.

Most importantly, though, Roy Hodgson's men already have their first three points on the board having beaten Fulham 2-0 on the Premier League's opening weekend, and new signing Max Meyer believes his side are more than capable of having a good season.

The Breakdown

Speaking to Crystal Palace's official club website, Meyer said: "I really think we can have a good season. We have plenty of quality and a strong squad – when you compare it to Schalke, it’s as strong, or maybe even stronger."

Having finished in second place behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga last season, describing Crystal Palace's squad as strong as Schalke's is an exaggeration.

However, £16.2m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Meyer is still right in thinking Crystal Palace can have a good season with the squad they have.

Up front may be a concern with Christian Benteke continuing to misfire but, elsewhere on the pitch, Hodgson has some solid options.

Luka Milivojevic offers plenty of power in the middle of the park, while Mamadou Sakho presence in defence elevates Crystal Palace to another level.

And, in Wilfried Zaha, the Eagles arguably have the best player outside of the Premier League top six.

Ultimately, with the squad they have, Crystal Palace should really be aiming for a finish in the top half of the Premier League table.
