Middlesbrough fans in the Transfer Tavern have agreed that they will need to have a successful transfer window if they are build a legacy back in the Premier League, providing they seal promotion from the Championship.
TalkSport have reported that Boro are monitoring Gent star, Laurent Depoitre, joining Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion in a race for the Belgian’s signature.
Depoitre has scored 15 for Gent this season and has hinted at a move into English football at the end of the season.
Tottenham are also said to be admirers of Depoitre, who has been compared to Jamie Vardy in his homeland having risen from the lower leagues to international football.
Middlesbrough will be desperate to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season and the 27-year-old could make a strong addition to their survival bid (should they be promoted).
Depoitre played in the Belgian Third Division and Second Division before stepping up to the Belgian Pro League with Gent.
Our landlord here in the Tavern thinks it would be an ambitious move for the Teeside club, but a move wouldn’t surprise him, as Boro owner Steve Gibson is known for reaching deep into his pockets!
