With Aitor Karanka expected to move on from Middlesbrough this summer (despite being on the brink of promotion), Aston Villa target, Nigel Pearson, has been linked with a move to Teeside, according to The Mail.
Middlesbrough fans in the Transfer Tavern have seen the news that their club have asked the former Leicester manager to hold off on his Villa decision until the end of the season, and would be able to offer Pearson top-flight football- providing they secure promotion to the Premier League.
Boro would likely be more affable position for Pearson should they fail to win promotion, as Villa have a heavy rebuilding process to go through before they can think about returning to the top tier of English football.
Nigel Pearson was sacked as Leicester City’s Head Coach last June, despite performing a great escape after they languished at the foot of the table for much of the season.
Pearson played for Middlesbrough under Bryan Robson in which he captained them to three domestic cup finals and two League promotions.
Middlesbrough fans, would Pearson be a good successor to Karanka? Let us know in the comments below!
