Mike Ashley “ruined” potential sale of Newcastle United

Mike Ashley is thought to have had the chance to sell Newcastle United a decade ago.

According to a report by the Newcastle Chronicle, Tony Jimenez has claimed that the current owner ruined the possible sale of the club.

It has been stated that Ashley had “created a disturbance in a bar” whilst in Dubai in 2008 and had also refused to meet a potential buyer.

That buyer was Sheikh Mansour, who then ended up snapping up Manchester City and has provided them with the financial backing to turn them into one of the best clubs in the world.

Jimenez has continued to blame Ashley for the lack of a sale, as it is claimed he had several other options lined up.

The current owner was caught up in some trouble, and despite their best efforts to minimise the impact, it ruined any potential offer for Newcastle.

The Verdict:

Newcastle fans are not best pleased, to say the least, when it comes down to Ashley and the way he has run their football club.

Knowing that the team had a chance to be taken over by one of the wealthy Arabians and for an incident caused by the current owner will not have gone down well with the fanbase.

The Magpies will be desperate for any possible takeover to go off smoothly, however, there will also be a sense of what could have been a decade ago.
