Aston Villa managed to secure all three points in Dean Smith’s first game in charge at Villa Park, with promotion to the Premier League still in their sights.
The Villains will be desperate to enjoy a positive run under the Englishman as he attempts to turn things around in the Midlands. Although, the Villa boss is faced with his first transfer test, as according to The Sunday Mirror (print edition, page 67, October 21, 2018) (via HITC), West Ham and Newcastle are interested in Mitchell Clark.
It has been reported that Premier League duo Newcastle United and West Ham United are watching Clark, who joined League Two outfit Port Vale on loan from Championship side Villa in the summer transfer window.
Indeed, the 19-year-old is a very promising defender that has a very bright future ahead of him, so Dean Smith will be hoping that he can hold onto him this season.
Villa do need promising and talented young defenders in the future, which is why it’s vital that they do their utmost to hold onto Clark for long-term success.
The defender has plenty more years to develop and could even enjoy a breakthrough in the first team if he’s provided with the opportunity, but Newcastle and West Ham’s interest is a worry.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
