Our resident Aston Villa fans were celebrating their first league win since the opening day of the season with a pint in the Tavern, following the midweek success over Crystal Palace.
However, they have now congregated around somebody’s smartphone to read over a report suggesting that the Villans could be about to lose an experienced defender in the form of Joleon Lescott.
Sky Sports report that Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy have made a bid for the 33-year old, who moved to Villa Park from West Bromwich Albion last summer and has since made 14 appearances for the Remi Garde’s side.
Aston Villa currently lie at the bottom of the Premier League having conceded 37 goals in 21 games, which has left Villa fans by the bar questioning the possibility of an experience defender like Lescott leaving.
Lescott, who was at the other end of the Premier League table and winning trophies not so long ago with Manchester City, is said to have been offered a 3 year deal to make the move to America.
Should the former England international make the move to Los Angeles, he would follow in the footsteps of several English compatriots, including Steven Gerrard who joined Galaxy last summer, whilst Frank Lampard currently plays for New York City FC.
Aston Villa fans, would you be concerned if Lescott left for America this month? Let us know in the comments below!
