The Chelsea fans are pleased at reports from Bild indicating that Alvaro Morata could have a suitor in the form of Borussia Dortmund. Morata had a very poor season last term, and though some are calling for him to be given more time, others are desperate for the Blues to replace him.
Fortunately, if Chelsea do decide to sell, there isn’t a shortage of exciting attacking talent in Europe with which to replace him, and our landlord thinks that PSG star Edinson Cavani – who is rated at £54 million by Transfer Markt – would be a great choice.
Cavani was amongst Europe’s most lethal forwards last season, bagging 28 league goals in Ligue 1. Displaying brilliant shooting, alongside excellent running and link-up play, the attacker is currently in the best years of his career.
Obviously, the clearest drawback to Cavani would be his age. At 31-years-old, who knows how long he can be at the top of his game? Fortunately, the Uruguayan has shown no signs of slowing down, though, and last season his goal tally spoke for itself. Furthermore, Chelsea need proven talent that can make an immediate impact, and he’s clearly a player that can do that.
He’s done it all over Europe for years, and it’s a shame that he’s yet to test himself in England. Chelsea have felt his quality first hand in the past, and it would be a shame for them not to be able to utilise it themselves.
Undeniably, Chelsea should at least consider selling Morata if an offer comes in this summer – and a move for Cavani makes a lot of sense.
